If you crave bold, savory flavors, Don Mega delivers an unmistakably funky experience. A standout cross of GMO and Black Banana, this strain turns heads with its pungent garlic-and-fuel aroma, frosted purple-green buds, and a cozy, slow-building high that wraps you in pure relaxation.
Hybrid (most often described as indica-leaning, though some sources call it balanced)
GMO x Black Banana
Commonly reported in the mid to upper 20s, varying by grower and batch
Relaxed, euphoric, hungry, sleepy
Garlic, diesel, chemical funk, earthy spice
Most often reported as limonene, caryophyllene, and myrcene
Don Mega, also listed as The Don Mega, is most widely credited to Solfire Gardens, a breeder that also produced one of its parents, Black Banana. The other parent is GMO, also called Garlic Cookies, which is known for its savory garlic-chem profile and high potency. Black Banana is a Banana Kush x Blackberry Kush cross.
Solfire Gardens originally released Don Mega as regular seeds, so growers can see noticeable variation between phenotypes. According to one widely repeated account, many plants in the breeder’s original seed hunt turned dark purple to nearly black. Different breeders are credited with popularizing the cross, although Solfire Gardens is the most common. The classification you’ll see listed will also vary, from indica-leaning to evenly balanced.
Don Mega typically produces dense, chunky buds that mix bright green with purple, and some phenotypes show very dark, almost black-purple coloring. Long, fiery orange pistils stand out against a thick coat of snowy trichomes, giving well-grown flower a frosty, glowing look. The heavy resin makes it popular with extract makers as well as flower smokers. Expect color and bud shape to vary more than usual, since the strain came from regular seeds.
Don Mega is a strong strain, with THC commonly reported in the mid to upper 20s. Some batches test even higher, so check the label on the product you’re buying.
This one is commonly described as a creeper: the effects often start slowly, with a tingly, euphoric lift that pushes out racing thoughts and improves mood. As it progresses, a heavy, relaxed body feeling usually takes over, and many people report a strong case of the munchies. At higher doses, however, Don Mega can be couch-locking.
Dry mouth is the most common side effect, and some people report dizziness or anxiety if they take too much. Because the effects can sneak up on you, start with a small amount and wait before having more. Experiences vary by person, dose, and batch.
Don Mega is the strain you reach for after a long day when you want to fully unwind, settle into the couch, or wind down before bed. Some say it helps them ease stress and physical tension, and many mention a big appetite boost. A few people use smaller amounts earlier in the day and say it stays manageable at lower doses. These are consumer reports, not proven medical benefits.
Don Mega’s aroma comes on strong. Most people pick up garlic and fuel first, followed by sharp chemical or ammonia-like notes, skunky funk, and even hints of cheese. Underneath, some batches show a touch of citrus or dark fruit.
The flavor is often described as smoother than the smell suggests. Many people notice earthy, peppery, and sour citrus notes on the inhale, with fuel, garlic, and funk lingering on the exhale. Some find the taste closer to savory spice or pine nut than straight garlic.
Most reports list limonene, caryophyllene, and myrcene as the leading terpenes. Caryophyllene fits the peppery depth, and limonene may explain the citrus edge. Profiles can vary noticeably from one phenotype to the next.

Don Mega is an indica-leaning hybrid, although some people say it’s more evenly balanced. Most consumers report a slow, euphoric start followed by heavy body relaxation, especially at higher doses.
The name is commonly described as slang for “the best of the best” or someone of high status. The strain is sold as both Don Mega and The Don Mega, and the two names refer to the same GMO x Black Banana cross.
Its garlic-and-fuel aroma is usually traced to its GMO parent, which is also known as Garlic Cookies. Black Banana may add the hints of fruit and citrus that some batches show underneath.
Don Mega has become a popular breeding parent. One well-known example is Mega Runtz, a cross of Runtz and Don Mega that pairs candy sweetness with some of Don Mega’s funk.
