Crunch Berries comes from Exotic Genetix, a Washington breeder known for flavor-driven crosses. The breeder combined DJ Short’s classic Blueberry with a Triple OG male, pairing old-school berry sweetness with modern OG gas and structure. It has built a following since the mid-2010s, and it also goes by Crunch Berry, Crunchberry Kush, and sometimes Captain Crunch.
That last name can cause confusion. A separate strain called Captain Crunch, from a different breeder, has unrelated genetics. Some sources also list Crunch Berries as OG Kush x Blueberry or OG Kush x Kushberry, but Blueberry x Triple OG from Exotic Genetix is the most widely recognized version of the strain.
Crunch Berries usually produces dense, compact buds in forest to dark green, often with rich purple undertones that some compare to tiny berries tucked into the flower. Bright orange pistils peek out from under a thick layer of trichomes, and some batches look almost white with frost. Bud size and shape can vary. Some batches have smaller, pebble-shaped nugs, while others grow longer and bushier. The breeder released it as regular seeds, so expect some phenotype variation.
Crunch Berries is moderately strong to strong – THC is commonly reported around 18-26%.
Many people describe an uplifting, happy start that can spark creativity and help clear away racing thoughts. The effects are often described as peaceful rather than overwhelming. As it settles, a relaxing body feeling usually follows. Some people stay active enough for a walk or time outdoors, while others find it leaves them pleasantly lazy, especially at higher doses. It’s generally described as relaxing without total couch-lock.
Dry mouth and dry eyes are common side effects, and some people feel anxious if they take too much. Experiences vary by person, dose, and batch.
Crunch Berries works for a range of relaxed situations: in the afternoon or evening for unwinding, creative projects, or a laid-back day outside, since its effects tend to be calming without being overly heavy.Â
Some people say it helps them ease stress and settle their mind, and others mention a boost in appetite. Flavor fans also seek it out simply because it tastes so much like its namesake cereal.Â
The aroma is often compared to a freshly opened box of berry cereal. Most people notice sugary berries and a hint of vanilla first, followed by light spice, earthy pine, and a gassy OG edge underneath. Some batches lean more toward sour fruit punch or artificial berry candy.
The flavor is similar – customers most often describe sweet blueberry and candy on the inhale, with a creamy vanilla note and a sugary aftertaste that lingers. The exhale usually brings more of the Triple OG influence, with pine, earth, and gas. Depending on the phenotype, some batches are more berry-forward, while others lean gassier.
Most reports list myrcene, caryophyllene, and limonene as the leading terpenes. Exact profiles vary between growers and phenotypes.

For many people, yes. People often describe the aroma and flavor as sugary berry cereal with a touch of vanilla. The OG side adds pine and gas, especially on the exhale, so some batches taste less sweet than others.
Sometimes. Crunch Berries is occasionally sold under the Captain Crunch name, but a separate Captain Crunch strain with different genetics also exists. Check the lineage on the label. Exotic Genetix’s Crunch Berries is Blueberry x Triple OG.
Crunch Berries is an indica-leaning hybrid. The breeder – Exotic Genetix – says it’s 60/40 indica, and some listings say it’s as high as 70/30.
Yes. Its heavy trichome coverage makes it popular for ice water hash and rosin, and many growers say the berry-and-gas flavor carries over well into concentrates.
